Phd studentships Anne Shannon Scholarship at University of Waikato

Anne Shannon Scholarship was established in 2000 through an endowment by Dr and Mrs Shannon of Hamilton, to provide financial support to an undergraduate student studying in the field of Biological Sciences.

Candidates must be majoring in Biological Sciences or in a specified programme including a major in Biological Sciences. They must be enrolled in no less than three papers in Biological Sciences in each year of tenure.

The Scholarship shall have a value of $2,500 per annum and be tenable for a maximum of two years. The closing date for the Scholarship shall be 31 October.

The Scholarship shall be offered every second year on the basis of academic merit to a University of Waikato student entering their second year of full-time study.

Candidates will be eligible to receive the Scholarship for the second year provided that they continue to meet the enrolment criteria as set out above and that a minimum average grade of B+ is attained in the first year of tenure. Should the candidate not meet the criteria for continuation of the Scholarship into the second year of tenure, the Scholarship may be re-advertised and re-awarded.

Candidates for the Scholarship must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
The Selection panel for the Scholarship will comprise the School of Science and Engineering's representative to the Scholarships Committee or nominee, the Chairperson of the Department of Biological Sciences or nominee, the Dean of Undergraduate Studies in the School of Science and Engineering or nominee and, when possible, Dr Shannon.
